Attention, Signal, and Sound
Purpose
Attention does not fail randomly.
It degrades when signal is weak and noise is dominant.
Sound is a stable, repeatable signal.
When used correctly, it limits attention drift without force.
Today introduces sound as a control input, not as meaning, prayer, or expression.
Functional Definition
Attention: the capacity to hold a signal without drift
Noise: any competing internal or external stimulus
Sound (here): a neutral signal used to constrain attention movement
No interpretation is required.
Why Sound Is Used
Sound has three properties relevant to attention training:
It is time-bound
It is repeatable
It occupies auditory processing continuously
These properties reduce spontaneous attention fragmentation.
Boundary Conditions
Sound is not used today for:
emotion regulation
relaxation
expression
symbolism
Sound is treated as a mechanical stabilizer.
Instruction Before Proceeding
Do not practice sound mentally yet.
Execution begins only in Lesson 2.
Proceed only when uninterrupted time is available.
